Americans With Disabilities Act Notice
Simsbury Land Trust has made an assessment of its properties to determine whether and to what extent power driven mobility devices (as defined in Department of Justice regulations) can be safely operated on them. The assessment concluded that all Simsbury Land Trust trails (with the sole exception of the Driveway Trail at Wagner Woods) have uneven and sometimes muddy terrain and narrow and irregular routes . Many have steep slopes and narrow bridges. All of these characteristics make operation of such equipment unsafe throughout. These trails were designed as hiking paths for pedestrian travel only and are not safe for wheeled vehicles of any kind. All wheeled vehicles are excluded from these trails. The Driveway Trail at Wagner Woods is fairly wide and straight, and it might be suitable for wheeled use by some mobility-impaired persons at their own risk. However, it is not smooth and is usually covered with pine needles, sticks and other forest debris. Thus, use of power driven mobility devices even on the Driveway Trail would not be safe. Moreover, deed restrictions forbid use of motorized vehicles, other than maintenance equipment, on that property. |
